Healthcare : Health Care Truths & Myths Forum is a Success
Posted by admin on 2009/10/22 10:10:00 (170 reads)

QCI's Health Care: Truths & Myths Forum that was held earlier this month turned out to be very successful. We had a turnout of over 30 people and there were also a few local news paper reporters. Each of the four panelists that participated, Rabbi Henry Karp, Dr. Keith Soko, Dr. Alta Price, and Dr. Lisa Killinger,  addressed a common myth about the proposed health care reform legislation. After each panelist spoke, the audience members were encouraged to ask questions about health care reform.

The event led to an insightful and very peaceful discussion of the need for health care reform and how we, as a community of faith, support the passing of a public option so that all of our brothers and sisters can have access to affordable and adequate health care.

General : With SCRA Grant, QCI Purchases Translation Equipment
Posted by admin on 2009/7/28 14:23:26 (148 reads)

With the genrous support of the Scott County Regional Authority, Quad Cities Interfaith has recently purchased translation equipment to assist in our outreach efforts within the immigrant community.

For the $2,00 grant, QCI purchased a transmitter, a microphone and twenty headsets. With the equipment a person can simultaneoulsy translate a community meeting or other event to those in the audience wearing the headsets. The equipment is a greatly needed tool in the important work of connecting with those in our community who, may speak little to no English, and therefore, are not fully partipicating in our community.

QCI thanks the Scott County Reginal Authority for its support of this proejct. For more information about the equipment, please contact the QCI office at 563.322.4910.
